"Abstract Thoughts of Anthropomorphic Powers"
Mixed media works on Japanese Thai Kozo paper
2016

Inspired by Baltic folk art and the Lithuanian didactic fairy tales that I grew up with, I conjure imagery that reflects a struggle between order and chaos. Characters of both light and dark share apocalyptic landscapes, with cryptic symbols and abstract lines. The resulting pieces remind me of the strangest of my own dreams and the most painful of my own past experiences, all the while channeling primordial myths of the human struggle between light and dark.
