Portfolio > Moving Drawings 2019

In my practice, I collage drawings, videos, and photographs, to create a series of short Moving Images that deconstruct human experience, and examine the permanent state of transition. Rooted in feminist ideas and tensions between the experiences of pleasure and pain, these digital collages are inspired by ancient figurines and images from women-centered societies in prehistory, particularly in Eastern Europe. In my still images, my body lays with open arms in a posture reminiscent to prehistorical female sculptures, while investigating far more than just fertility and motherhood. Thinking about movement as an expression of the human condition, I overlay videos of myself performing physical actions on top of the still images, to explore the corporeal and psychological experience of being a human.
