Moving Drawings 2019
Thinking about the movement as an expression of the human condition, I collage drawings as well as videos and photographs of myself to create a series of short Moving Images that explore the corporal and psychological experience of being a human. Rooted in feminist ideas and tensions between the experiences of pleasure and pain, these collages have been inspired by found ancient figurines and images from women-centered societies in prehistory, particularly in eastern Europe. They were defined as goddess unifying all ‘natural things, as a metaphor for earth’s power’. My body lays with open arms similarity to the prehistory female sculptures, expressing far more functions than just fertility and motherhood.
